Ben has practiced classical Japanese martial art for over two decades, and is an associate teacher in the Myofuan Classical Japanese Martial Art Research Association.
He received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in Japanese Language & Literature and has a Masters degree in Acupuncture & Chinese Herbal Medicine from the New England School of Acupuncture. He runs a busy clinic in downtown Amherst serving over 100 patients per week.
Ben received permission to start a branch of the Myofuan Dojo in the summer of 1999 and taught briefly in Tateyama City, Chiba Prefecture. After returning from Japan in 2002, he began teaching by request of close friends and colleagues at the New England School of Acupunture. Soon thereafter, he founded the Myofuan Takakage Dojo in Massachusetts to continue his research and share the know-how and philosophy of traditional Japanese martial arts.
